A diminutive button of a bar, No Name’s a minimalistic one-room affair – a cluster of four tables and cheeky natty wine posters (a print of revolutionary fists clutching wine glasses above ‘Terriorists’, for one) adorn the space. Wines by the glass are limited, but the bottle selection of natural wines is sizeable, five long shelves stacked two bottles deep. Split one (starting from around 200RMB) with friends or get a few for home, with a 15 percent discount on takeaway. Opened by two sommeliers, Jasper Sun and Sol Yang, and a chef, Cai Wenbin, the homey two-storey space sits on a burgeoning stretch of Yuyuan Lu. Pick your poison from a sizeable list of wines by the glass – including Burgundy’s most coveted estate (and hence, priciest) Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, or DRC for short – and nibble on Iberico ham or mussels in a white wine cream sauce. A wall of bottles arranged by flavour profiles like‘nutty’, ‘floral’ and ‘funky’ offer vintages to go, while in warmer weather, the terrace upstairs encourages a lazy afternoon.
