Nestled on lush grounds and a three-hour drive from downtown Shanghai, French chain Club Med’s latest resort in Zhejiang caters to all three generations of the family.

Opened in June, Club Med Joyview is a place where city kids can run on the grass, get their hands dirty at a petting zoo and bike down quiet paths surrounded by bamboo stalks. Club Med’s Mini Club, a whole complex dedicated to young guests, has a music room, arts and crafts area, outdoor waterpark and mini cinema. It’s set up so that parents can chill with their kids or drop them off for supervised activities while they sneak away for an adults- only dinner or hit up the spa.

Another Club Med signature, the international team of ambassadors (called G.O’s) live on the resort full time, running activities by day, putting on shows for guests by night. The resort is all-inclusive with an asterisk, meaning ‘premium’ activities like virtual golf, kayaking and tea ceremonies come with an added cost tacked on.

The resort is new, both in its China operations and in this particular location, which means the team still seems to be working out recent-opening kinks. But for an easy getaway not far from the city where the kids will have as much to do as parents, it’s one worth checking out.
