WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TAX-FREE SHOPPING?
✔️ Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and foreign tourists with valid passports or ID.
✔️ Travelers staying in the Chinese mainland for no more than 183 consecutive days.

Here are some helpful pointers on how to go about the ‘Buy & Tax Refund’ process yourself at a participating Tax Refund shop (TFS).

Previously, travellers could only claim their tax refunds at Shanghai’s international airports.
As of now, however, Plaza 66 Shanghai’s ‘Buy & Tax Refund’ service simplifies the process and lets you get your cash in hand much sooner.
After receiving your invoice and TFS Form, head towards the B2 Handsfree counter at Plaza 66 for the next steps.
‘Buy & Tax Refund’ Service Application Steps at the B2 handsfree counter:
Show your available pre-authorised credit card: Only UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card, Mastercard or JCB.
Ensure that the total purchase amount is between 500 - 110,000 RMB. (Note: If the purchase amount exceeds 110,000 RMB, please go to the departure port for your tax refund.)
Confirm the actual tax refund amount for the goods and make a pre-authorization guarantee by swiping your credit card.
Please fill in the ‘notification form for departure tax refund facilitation service’ and ‘authorisation form for personal information of overseas visitors for departure business of bank of China limited.’
Please depart from one of Shanghai’s international airports within 17 days (inclusive).
Receive the tax refund cash in advance.
‘BUY & TAX REFUND’ THREE ATTENTION POINTS:
1.Before you leave China, you still need to carry the unused or unpacked goods for customers verification and submit the ‘Refund Application Form’ with the verified seal of customs to the ‘Buy & Tax Refund’ mailbox set up at the tax refund counter.
2. If a situation occurs that does not meet the conditions of ‘Buy & Tax Refund’, the Shanghai Tax Refund Agency-BOC Shanghai Branch has every right to deduct the corresponding amount from the pre-authorised credit card, and travellers are responsible for the services fees.
3. If you meet the general conditions for tax refund upon departure, you can still process the tax refund according to the general tax refund process.
