It’s a homely haven for beer-lovers- and vastly cosier than the plain, original branch on Yongkang Lu. The real plus here is the roof terrace, which provides a brilliant outside alternative to mooching downstairs on the main courtyard chairs.
The joy of Tap House is traversing the massive draft beer menu at random, but one not to be missed is the crisp John Bull lager (55RMB/large glass).
According to the owners, the bar has the most extensive range of draft beer in Shanghai. There certainly is a heck of a lot on offer, with the focus on US brewery Rogue, makers of the head-blastingly strong Dead Guy ale. Beers cost 30-35RMB for a small glass, 55-65RMB for a large and 180-220RMB for a pitcher. They’ve also got Magners apple cider on tap and Bombardier ale from Britain – a tipple any serious beer head must try. Food is pub-style grub, including beer-marinated chicken wings (75RMB), baked potatoes (35RMB, extra for certain toppings), fish and chips (85RMB) and burgers (85-125RMB), with a huge Tap House Deluxe Burger clocking in at 185RMB.
