Famous for rice cakes and rice wine, Chongming Island is home to a handful of popular bakeries, including Shanyi Lou (善意楼), which directly translates to 'Goodwill Building.'
Not only was a baker experimenting with his newest creation at my time of visit, but I also discovered a dizzying array of rice desserts and cakes, as well as some exciting variations of classic Chinese delicacies like mooncakes.
